Hometown Community Park

Did you know Northumberland County is the only county in the Northern Neck or Middle Pennisula without a public park?  The Callao Hometown Community Association has set out on a mission to build a park in Northumberland County.  With the generous land donation from the Burgess Family and Primis Bank along with fundraising efforts, we are getting closer to making that dream a reality.  

Hometown Community Park will provide a community gathering place for festivities and activities to bring the community together as a whole - both residents and visitors alike.  The park will include a handicap accessible playground, walking trail, game area, covered pavilion, an amphitheater for concerts and outdoor entertainment, plus a gathering place for farmers' markets and other events.  In addition, the entrance building will have a museum area to showcase items and teach visitors about the history of Northumberland County.

The stage area is being constructed from a silo and the entrance building is being constructed similar to a barn design to reflect the strong agricultural heritage of our county.  Coastal themed decor will also be in the park to reflect the strong heritage of our watermen.  

We feel the construction of Hometown Community Park will boost the local economy and become a destination for residents and visitors to enjoy.

As of August 2025, we are in the design process with the building design and plans completed.  The land design is anticipated to be completed in the near future.  This alone has been a huge undertaking.  We are currently raising the funds for construction through donations, fundraising activities, and grants.  Callao Hometown Community Association is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization.
